Frequently Asked Questions:

WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?
Milestones has several locations!  Our School-Age programs operate in seven schools in Shorewood, Whitefish Bay, Glendale, and River Hills. Our Early Childhood programs operate at three sites on the East side of Milwaukee, Whitefish Bay and in RIver Hills. Which site you work at would depend upon the specific openings. Most programs are very accessible from bus lines.

DO I HAVE TO BE AN EDUCATION MAJOR OR DEGREE TO WORK AT MILESTONES?
No, we have almost 100 employees from a wide variety of backgrounds working for Milestones. Milestones often trains and develops its new staff. We can also help you get any required training and qualifications needed.

WHAT AGE CHILDREN WOULD I WORK WITH?
Anywhere from two months to thirteen eyars old. Our early childhood programs serves children from two months to four year olds. Our school age programs serve children from K3 through 6th grades (roughly four to eleven year olds). We also have full day summer day camps that serve K3- 7th Grade children. Furthermore, individual programs may vary in the ages of children they serve. Let us know what ages you might be interested in working with.

WHAT KIND OF TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE DO I NEED?
Ideally, we look for potential staff to have some experience working with children in a group setting, as well as training that would qualify under state licensing rules (such as Child Psychology or Early Childhood Teacher I and II). Ultimately though, we are looking for candidates who are responsible, reliable, and hard working with good people skills.  According to state licensing rules, some new teaching staff have up to six months to complete the approved training.  Milestones is usually able to help arrange that training.

WHAT DOES THE JOB ENTAIL?
Providing for the safety and well being of the group of children you are hired to work with. Providing an array of choice oriented, developmentally-appropriate activities that may include story time, arts and crafts, outdoor and gym, blocks and manipulatives, board games and more.

WHAT ARE THE HOURS?
It depends!  We have so many different types of positions and we are providing care from 7:00 AM to 6:00PM Monday-Friday.  The major time periods when we need staff are weekday afternoons (2:00-6:00 PM) and mornings (7:00–9:00 AM).  But there are lots of other times often available.  We have full time and part time positions available. Just ask what positions we currently have available.

ARE YOU FLEXIBLE WITH SCHEDULING?
With over forty part time staff working for Milestones, we have been able to be flexible whenever possible.  There are of course limits, but do not think you couldn’t work for Milestones because of your schedule.  Let us know your availability and we will try to find a place for you.

WHAT IS THE PAY?
Assistant Teachers start no lower than $12.50 p/hr. Head Teachers start no lower than $15.00 p/hr.  Then we take into consideration past experience and education and assess points to it.  The points translate to increasing an individual's starting wage based on education and experience.
